This garden in Bussage, Nr Stroud has a number of features which have helped develop a newly built house into a home with a garden that reflects it's owners passion for gardening.
The brief here was to install a waterfall that ran into a Koi pond with a filter system to keep the water clean at all times.
As the garden is on a steep slope the top section of the garden has a formal feel to it, with herbaceous planting next to a stone summerhouse, which gives views over the valley.
On the far side of the lower garden railway sleepers have been used as a natural retaining wall to compliment a sun paved feature, planted with thyme.
This garden also includes a vegatable garden and children's play area, giving all family members their own space.
It has evolved from a grassed area to a lovely family garden over a two year period.
This garden was large project for a small cottage at Winson, near Barnsley, Cirencester.
The garden was totally overgrown and has the river Coln running at it's far end.
Our brief was to create a water source that would follow a stream, collecting into a pool, eventually running into the river itself. At the river's edge we built a timbered-decked area where the owner can fish. The overall planting is natural with some specimen plants giving the garden a mature feel. Bulbs have been included to give it a woodland feel.
Towards the cottage itself there is a cobbled area near the water's source for a seating area. Around the cottage frontage the planting is in cottage style with traditional roses and clematis growing over the arched gateway.
The whole garden has been dressed with bark mulch to keep weeding down and all materials used are in keeping with the Cotswold area.
This garden has been designed for a single person who lives in a period house in Leckhampton, Cheltenham. The lady in question wanted a low maintenance oriental type garden that included a summerhouse and water features.
The summerhouse was built by hand by Nigel and is very individual being made from oak with a slate roof and having a paved floor.
There is a slate water feature, which has water running down its sides and a large main pool, supported by a filter system, hidden behind the summerhouse.
The planting has an oriental feel but is primarily low maintenance as this lady does not have a great deal of time to work on her garden.
This garden was completed this year and will look more mature next year with other phases to be added as budgets permit.
